New Year Update

About time for an update we reckon! These last 3 months have been HUGE.

What have we been doing?

Well, missing Amelia mostly! Amelia did a phenomenal job getting all the ducks in a row to get our programs started, but her role wrapped up in January. Because of all her hard work, we have been inundated with participants who are interested in our programs. We have 10 people who have signed up to our taster program, doing work experience in roles within animal care services, and a full class to start the Animal Advocate program when it kicks off mid-year. We have had an outrageous amount of interest in the Wag n Walk program, which will kick off as soon as we have man power to facilitate them. More info on all our programs can be found here https://www.loveofdogs.org.au/our-programs

Seeing the impact that these programs are having on our participants has been the most rewarding thing. The tenderness and calm that come with patting dogs for a day, and the excitement that comes with seeing what career paths are available when we open these doors has been a tear jerker for sure.

Where are we going?

Next step... We need to set up a doggy day care centre! What better place for our participants to learn about animal care than a doggy day care and grooming centre?! Healthy, well socialised dogs to play with all day long - win win for the dogs and our participants! This is a social enterprise model where doggy daycare income subsidises program costs and makes the programs more accessible to our participants.

What can you do to help?

Number one thing we need right now is funding. Once we have a functioning daycare centre, we can start running our Wag n Walk, Pat n Chat, and Animal Advocate programs at full tilt. All of these programs are sustainable in that once we have the daycare set up, the programs fund themselves and we can stop asking for money!

We need to raise $20,000 to get a doggy day care up and running - if you can help, click here

Thanks for following our journey - It's great sharing it with you, looking forward to bringing you heaps more stories!
