Wag n Walk is a volunteer-matched program that pairs you with local animal lovers for regular dog walks. It’s more than just a walking program—it’s an opportunity to build friendships, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with your community.
Whether you’re joining for fun, fitness, or friendship, Wag n Walk is designed to fit your goals. For some, it’s about building routines and spending more time with dogs. For others, it’s a stepping stone to learning social skills or developing professional skills to become a paid dog walker.

How It Works

Getting to Know You
Staff will call you to talk about what you like, where you live, when you’re free, and what kind of match you’d like.

Practice Walks
For now, staff will join you for walks to practice how the program works, hear your feedback, and make it even better.

Finding the Right Match
Once we have volunteers, staff will match you with someone nearby who loves dogs and fits what you’re looking for. If you want to bring your own dog, we’ll check to make sure it’s a good fit.

Confirm the Match
Staff will tell you about the volunteer and their dog and check if you’re happy with the match.

Meet & Greet
We’ll set up a meeting so everyone can get to know each other. We’ll explain how it all works, set up a schedule, and go on a short walk together to see how it goes.

Start Walking
Once you’re happy, the volunteer will walk with you regularly based on the schedule you both agree on.

Check-ins & Support
Staff will check in with you early on and later to make sure everything is going well. You can bring a support worker if you want extra help.
